Cyber Security Round Table 25th Nov Manchester

By 10th November 2015Italik News

Recent high-profile, global cyber incidents such as the recent attack on TalkTalk and the attack on Sony Pictures which resulted in the leaking of sensitive data as well as a number of the studio’s unreleased films have made big headlines.  Attacks closer to home might not make the news but nevertheless are hugely damaging, both to the UK economy and individual businesses.

On Wednesday 25th November, Manchester-based  IT security specialist Italik is hosting a Security Executive Round Table at Robinsons Brewery in Stockport.  This event will discuss in more details the 10 Steps to Cyber Security and discuss ways in which Italik can help.

The BIS 2014 Information Security Breaches Survey reported that 81% of organisations had experienced a security breach of some sort. This costs each organisation between  £600,000-£1.5million.

According to the report “10 Steps to Cyber Security” re-issued this year by GCHQ, the responsibility to manage your organisation’s cyber risks starts and stops at board level. Basic information risk management can stop up to 80% of the cyber-attacks seen today. However, experience suggests that few organisations get this right:

  • Organisations may not have identified key information assets and the impact it would have on if they were compromised or online services were disrupted?
  • They may not have clearly identified the key threats to the organisation’s information assets and set an appetite for the associated risks?
  • They may not be confident that their organisation’s most important information is being properly managed and is safe from cyber threats?

The event on Wednesday 25th November from 10am to 1pm at Robinsons Brewery in Stockport will discuss in more details the 10 Steps to Cyber Security and discuss ways in which Italik can help.  The round table will allow delegates to discover some of the practical steps that can be taken to improve the security of business networks and the information carried on them.
